Experience science

As part of the Scheffoldforscher-AG of the Scheffold-Gymnasium Schwäbisch Gmünd, children and young people from the 5th to the 10th grade experience natural sciences up close. With experiments and excursions, they learn about the world of science every week. At the end of the year, the Scheffold researchers work together and film 24 experiments, which are published in an Advent calendar. Each day, participants can watch the experiments and predict their outcome. The participant with the most correct answers receives a prize at the end.

In 2019 I received the order to develop the website of the Physical Advent Calendar and to take over hosting as well as domain purchase. With about 200 participants and a lot of positive feedback, this project was a complete success!

Requirements

For this project, the following points were particularly important:

• The tasks had to be published automatically every day
• Solutions/tasks already uploaded were not allowed to be accessed before publication
• Access data had to be stored securely
• The website had to be available
• After an adjustable period of time, the submission of answers had to be blocked and the data could no longer be changed
• Certain files were only allowed to be accessible for logged in participants
